Current Information:Age-28 1 Dumbarton Road, Brixton Hill Vermelles British Cemetery, France After the Battle of Loos in September and October, 1915, , 47th Division, including 21st London of 142 Brigade remained in that sector for the rest of the year, engaged in the normal routines of trench warfare. 21st London were in the front and support trenches between 27th December and 29th December, 1915. The battalion diary makes mention of having to work to clear mud and water from the trenches but no casualties are recorded for these 2 days, during which, Rifleman Banfield was killed in action on 27th December. |
